• Dr. Bernadette J. Lujan, MPA, DOM, Dipl. OM

  • Dr. Lujan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She has had a long career in public health, having received her Master of Public Administration, with an emphasis in health services administration from the University of New Mexico. She helped initiate and expand many public health programs to enhance the quality of life of the residents of New Mexico.

    Having a special interest in helping people recover from the loss of a loved one, she became a certified bereavement facilitator by the American Academy on Bereavement. She has also been certified as a tobacco cessation facilitator. She then received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College.

    She is a nationally board certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine in the state of New Mexico.  In 2012, she completed a externship at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. In 2013 Dr. Lujan completed an externship at a fully integrated teaching hospital affiliated with Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine in Harbin, China.

    Specializations

    Dr. Lujan trained in the areas of physical rehabilitation, pain management and stress management.  She has also worked with patients that are recovering from addictions to alcohol, prescription medication and illicit drugs. In addition to acpuncture, Dr. Lujan is trained in the use of many alternative medicine modalities, including acupuncture, herbs, nutritional counseling, tuina massage, cupping, moxibustion, and more.  Dr. Lujan also specializes in helping those that "fear needles". She customizes treatment plans utilizing the modalities that best meet the needs of each of her patients, helping them to optimize their health and wellness.
